License Plate Law in CA
I know having the front license plate is mandatory but...
Does anyone know if mounting your front license plate inside behind the windshield is illegal?

I lost mine.. it been almost 6 month and no one has said anything..it's a fix it ticket if they catch you

I know it is illegal with none in the front. I have never ran a front plate on any of my vehicles, and I have never been pulled over for it. I believe that in the window is illegal as well.

No front plate either. I leave it in the back just incase I get pulled over...that way I say it just fell off and I am going to fix it.

I want to know for sure... I just took off the air dam last night and thought it would look a lot better without the big ol' license plate holder in the front... Does anyone know for sure if it's illegal????
I might just go out drive around tomorrow and ask a cop about it. I did that regarding window tint once and it took me out of my doubts...

It's a fix it ticket, you say opps and fix it if you ever get cought and your good..

It's illegal, this is from the CA DMV. Front License Plate Bracket
(B) The person understands that California law requires a license plate to be displayed from and securely fastened to the front of the motor vehicle and that the hardware necessary to securely fasten the front plate is available from the dealer. (b) A manufacturer or distributor may not sell or distribute in this state a new motor vehicle for which the department issues two license plates, unless that motor vehicle is equipped or provided with a bracket or other means of securing the license plates. Added Sec. 1, Ch. 365, Stats. 2004. Effective January 1, 2005.

Alright... I'll just leave it be...
 I can do the oops thing but I'd rather not go through the trouble... Since we're on Law topics... Has anyone with a prerunner lift been ticketed for the wheels sticking out? I know the wheels must be covered by fenders but don't really know the specifics on it. Can anyone enlighten me?

I has seen them road block azuza and give out tickets it's a fix it ticket. but I know sased rigs that stick out a good foot and they never got in troule

i have received a fix-it ticket for this.. but from a ****ing meter-maid, not a real cop.
ran my 4runner without a front for about 8 years, no issue. al depends on teh cop... you may not get pulled over for it.. but if youre a jerk to any cop that does pull you over for something else, they can get ya for that you. no biggy, its just 10 bucks, but still a hassle. just keep the plate in the car
