Hella 500 Install
I installed a set of Hella 500FF's on my Frontier on Saturday. I made the mounting bracket from a piece of aluminum that I got from a local machine shop. I didn't want there to be a big snazzy light bar so I made something small. The mount is bolted to the two bolts at the middle of the bumper. There were two plastic screws there holding the plastic piece in place, I replaced them with two 5/16th bolts. Wires are run according to the instructions without the headlight link. I wanted to be able to run them without having any other lights on. I know some of you have linked them to parking lights and whatnot for the dinger but I didn't really care. If I leave them on and forget, I'll deal with the consequences. I mounted the switch in the cap just above the 12v outlet in the truck. My father had a rubber grommet that fit in the hole perfectly and also had the perfect size hole in it to fit the switch. I ran the wires through the firewall on the drivers side using the small rubber grommet that is next to the large rubber grommet that is the main wire entrance to the cabin. The best part is that I can remove everything if I desire and have no evidence that the lights were even there. No holes were drilled, nothing. The pics are kind of poor but they were taken right as it was getting dark.
As for the light output. I am impressed. It's def. worth it if you are unhappy with your lighting setup. I may in the near future put a set of Hella 1000's on where the 500's are and then put the 500's next to them placed a little lower.
