Finally got my BakFlip on!

It got delivered last Tuesday, but I was working long hours last week and didn't have time. Took me less than an hour and looks fantastic! Just washed the truck and as Bak Industries claim, not 100% waterproof but pretty darn close, just a few drips inside the bed. If any of you are thinking about an inexpensive hard top, I highly recommend the BakFlip!

You have to open it from underneath. So once you lock the tailgate, it's impossible to open. I was thinking about a roll top, but heard too many people complaining about the install being a PITA. Plus, the BakFlip is way cheaper than a roll top.

I paid $619 from autoaccessoriesgarage.com. Most of the roll tops I looked at were over $1000.

I just finished putting my bakflip on my 08 Frontier about 10 minutes ago. Was pretty straightforward, took about an hour or so.
There is some interference with the Utilitrac system tho, unless I did something wrong. The clamps that hold the BakFlip rails on butt right up against the utilitrac, so you can't slide anything past them. The bed extender can still be flipped up and over, I just can't slide it very far. the cleats get stuck too.
It does look really good tho. I think I can grind some of the metal off the sliders for the bed extender, so that it'll slide under the clamps. I may be out of luck with the cleats tho, they're pretty beefy.

If you feel around under the inside lip - there are gaps that will allow the clamp to go further up. The bed extender bracket still needs ground on slightly and the tightning wheel has to be very loose to clear the clamp but it will all work. ps - I love my backflip too - gets lotsa looks when i have something in an its only partially open.

Thanks, I'll check it out and see if I can push them up a bit.
I got a few looks at the campground too, when I opened mine up after a day of rain and started pulling out some stuff. the guys with the hard tops looked a little jealous.
