Just add a washer between the replacement post and the install bolt. This keeps the cable from slipping off the post when that cheezy little spring clip fails (and it will).

metal pivot bracket on mine failed as well, took it off and straightened with a hammer. Also had to turn the half-round plastic cover around because it was smashed on the lower side.
