It is a great idea that was poorly designed and made with the cheapest of materials.... like most thinks made today, by the lowest bidder....

i loved this mod. originally when they didn't have the kit for a frontier ,so i opted for a sierra kit which apparantly did fit. several months after the install i began to see the piston start to rust and eventually snap off. now i role with nothing and i won't spend another cent on that companies products again. NOT IMPRESSED!

best bet to keep it from failing in one way or another is to return it asap.

I Was On The First Group Buy(as Usual) And The Clip Was/is A Problem. It Does Stay Clip On Well So I Put A Small Tie Strap On It And Thats Worked Perfect. Occasionally I Have To Straighten The Clip Cause It Bends Down Away From The Bolt The End Of The Rod Goes Around And It Lets The Rod Come Off And Slam Down. Other Than That It Works Great And I Have Just Gotten In The Habit Of Opening It And Making Sure Theres Slight Drag So I Know Its Still There, Yeah Inconvienient But Still Better Than Without By Far

Maybe it happens with those of us who are constantly opening our tailgate. Being that our tailgates are so heavy, (why???), it causes alot of stress to the EZ Down components. I was always opening and closing my tailgate for something or another. When it worked it worked great, but for that kind of money I think it should have lasted longer than it did. Oh well................live and learn. I hope it works better for those of you that have it now.

I'd bet my tailgate has been up and down close to 50 times and no issues as of yet. It better last longer than what some of you guys or saying or I'll be pissed.

Do the washer trick or it WILL slam down on you sooner than latter. I think the slamming causes other metal bending issues. Other than that, it's an OK product. hundreds of tailgate cycles on mine (since teh fix) and it's holdign up fine.
