What do you mean bring them in? like closer to the body? Or put an angle on them? But ya, I went with this design so they could act like the steprails as well (gotta keep the wife happy ) But I am willing to change them a bit if they'll work better, so I'm open to more suggestions.

Right now they are just bolted on using the old holes for the stock step rails... but once i'm sure they are perfect, I'm going to weld them on, probably just run one bead (is that the right term?) along the bottom to add strength when I'm using them to jack or resting on them, keep them semi easy to remove if I need too.

Sorry HKYStormFront, I can't take any pics right now, my camera found its way to the bottom of a mud puddle, as I was jumping out to take a pic of the same mud puddle... maybe I offended the mud gods in some way, lol

The grip tape is an excellent idea, good call.
