Its my daily driver and I want the ride to be smooth but I still want an aggressive tire for when I do decide to lock her in and roll through the trails.
Here's what i have used in the past
Maxxis buckshot ....ok
Pro-Comp Mud Terrain ...great offroad but a little bumpy on road
Pro-Comp X-terrain ....smmoth at first but rough with wear. great offroad
BFG MT ....great on my light weight 72 Bronco. Too expensive
Goodyear Wrangler MT ...hate em
Mud King by BFG ...not bad for the price

Awesome question. Thank you for the details.
A few things. The 285.75.16 size is full of 8 and 10 ply tires. They are going to run a little rougher than your stock tires no matter what tire you choose. To keep an even wear on 8 and 10 ply tires you generally have to put more pressure in them.
As for some suggestions, have you looked at the Nitto Terra Grapplers?
For a daily driver the Terra Grappler is very smooth. They also look really nice and will take you offroad when you need them too. THey won't hurt your pocket too much and you should be able to get some pretty good miles out of them if you rotate and maintain the correct pressure on them. link:
Terra Grappler.
The BFG TA KO would also be a great tire for you but they are a little more money. They are very smooth on the road, you will get a lot of miles out of them and they are great off road as long as you don't spend a lot of time in the mud. link:
