Incorrect. a mechanical (or lunchbox) say detroit style locker actually locks the two axle shafts together so they turn at the same speed under throttle. You also may have heard of these being called ratchet style lockers.
The TrueTrac is a mechanical limited slip that using gearing, requires at least 1 turn of one axle shaft to 3 turns of the other. it does not ratchet, I do not believe it engages due to the throttle. Most importantly, it does not lock both axle shafts in a 1:1 ratio.
Hence, its a limited slip.
