A synthethic low viscosity oill is the standard for the auto models from late 2006 because of the Diesel Particulate filter. A friend who runs a garage in town recently had a Navara towed in that had just been serviced in Canberra. It was running but only just. Seems that the dealer had refilled with "normal" diesel oil rather than synthetic. Only took about 100ks for it to suffer.

The nissan dealer initially didn't want to know and even maintained that there was no need to run special oil. Funnily enough when pushed they all of a sudden changed their mind sent a tilt tray, picked up the vehicle and later returned it with no explaination.

go figure!

Martin - coupla questions ...
- did you try the synthetic oil without the cetane booster or did you do them both at once?
- Where did you get the Amsoil booster?

Cheers
