I think Lon was more talking about the oil debate some time ago, where I said why would you bother with semi/synthetic oils.
But life goes on and dont think for one minute that you can just go and change to 5W30 full synthetic diesel oil if your truck has done less than 50k, give it at least this much to run in after that you should notice the difference.
