I used to see leno at the "Rock Store" off Mulholland Hwy almost every weekend on a different motorcycle. The trippiest one he rode was a 1924 Thor ... that looked like a bicycle with a big single cylinder on it , he had on the old leather world war I flying cap , old leather jacket, the knee high boots and a long white scarf flying in the breeze. It was a trip to say the least. The thing that sucked about it was all the leno fans that would follow him around like "they were gum on his shoes" and wouldn't let him enjoy the day checking out the several hundred bikes up there. I used to be a local, ( lived down mulholland a mile or two ) and I knew Ed and Vern who own the store. Also back then I had a Honda XR 500 Dirt bike that I'd ride the trails to the store, and park up in the "Harley only" section...that would piss off the Harley guys, it used to also piss off everyone else that I got the local price on beer and they all paid retail. There used to be alot of stars that you'd see there and maybe you still do ( haven't been there in 20 years ) . I remember one early Sunday morning after partying across the street from the Rock Store at the boatrights, and tweekin' all night long ... walking over to the store to get some breakfast at verns, when low and behold Arnold the governator rode up on a harley, it was about 7:30am , and not too many others were there ... anyway I decided that the best cure for what I was feeling was "Hair of the Dog" , so I bought two Corona's and gave one to Arnold !!! He's alot shorter in person than in the movies, but anyway enjoyed talking to him , and then went in after the corona slam for the SOS vern had made me.....anyway I guess my claim to fame is having a beer with Arnold and telling him right before I went in for breakfast " I'll Be Back " !!! LOL
