I don't think there's a best way. Just get under there and start spraying the sh!it out of everything with the hose.

Cover all electrical stuff with a plastic bag and shoot everything under the hood.

Take off your wheels and get your rotors clean also.

I don't think waiting a couple of days is good for your truck, either. IMO
