i had a bad experience w/ my nc local dealership too. i went having done my research online, fixing a fronty just the way i wanted it and coming up w/ around 20k for the sticker, but for some reason theirs for the same thing was about 3k higher. @ 20 g's w/ my trade in value i wanted i was looking at around 300 a month for 60 months w/ the 3% apr they offered at the time. they ended up not being able to give me the 3% since i didn't have good "car" credit. i scored really high on my credit check but it was all "revolving" credit. which apparently means diddly. so suddenly my monthly payment was 396 a month, i was like "wait a min, i said 300" and the jerk had the nerve to say "it's still got a 3 in it". then i asked if i could keep my cd player out of my truck and he asked how much it was worth. i said around 200 or so, he took off 300 from my ram's value. i was like ur kidding me, it adds 25 dollars to the book value, i knew bc i had checked. anyway, i ended up finding a factory chrysler tape player at a junkyard for 30 bucks and putting it back in, going to a different dealership where i said "hey, i want a 2wd KC storm grey, 6 spd w/ power package for 20 g's and i want you to give me 6k for my ram." went to my bank (where all my credit was) and got a 14k loan to pay the rest. they called me back the next morning and said they had my truck waiting. drove it home that day i will never again deal w/ my local dealership except for warranty work, i hope to screw them on as much as i can for the crap they tried to pull, probably just bc it was my first time buying a vehicle. they didn't know my dad was a car salesman for a long time and taught me alot of the tricks!
